The STOMP Drug Awareness and Prevention VISTA will educate Jack County, TX communities on and create a greater awareness of the dangers of methamphetamine/drug use and crime awareness. The goal of the project is to develop a working relationship with the community to break the local drug use/abuse cycle that impoverishes our community. Major duties include developing educational materials on drugs (both illegal and prescription) and how their use/abuse effects the community, developing partnerships with other “help” organizations, businesses, community service groups, schools and local government to increase community support, conducting research and writing grants, and volunteer recruitment and training.
Successful applicants will possess exemplary oral and written communication skills, be a self-starter, computer and technology skills, and a basic understanding of grant writing and volunteer recruitment.
